http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 T20 skipper, Mohammad Hafeez, has admitted that the shortest version has its own lure but is adamant that Test cricket remains the ultimate format, which brings out the best in a player and demands high work ethics.
“To be very honest, I am a big fan of Test cricket. It has a grace that attracts me. I really enjoy playing it because it requires a great deal of skill. I feel privileged to play this format because it lets you feel you are at the
top of your profession,” said the veteran while talking to Cricinfo.
The 31-year-old opening batsman recently replaced http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 for a full fledge series which starts with two
T20 Internationals from June 1.
That will be followed by five 50-over games, along with 3 Test matches, where Hafeez will be a deputy to Misbah. With his career stuttering initially, the all-rounder has made giant strides in the past 2 years, cementing a permanent position in all formats
of the game through extreme hard work.
His recent performances in Test matches are decent; in the last 9 Tests, he has scored 749 runs including two centuries and three fifties. Apart from his contributions with the bat, he has also impressed with the bowl – being economical
most of the time, while has the knack of chipping in with key breakthroughs.
The player is keen on delivering high quality cricket in the shorter versions as well, giving T20 cricket its fair share of importance, emphasising that the format's intensity sets the pace for everyone.
“Twenty20 cricket is entertainment, with more commercial values. It's short and fast and pulls in the crowds. I enjoy playing it. You have to be quick and move with the flow. You have to keep switching your plans, as the game changes
with every ball,” added Hafeez.
