Mohammad Hafeez wants consistent use of technology – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Hafeez-c76898, the Pakistani all-rounder, feels that a number of decisions went against his team in the first Test of the series at Galle and urged the International Cricket Council (ICC) to make the Decision Review System (DRS) mandatory in every series.
The opening batsman from Sargodha captained http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 for the first time in a Test match because of Misbah ul Haq’s absence, who was banned due to a slow over-rate in the fifth One Day International at Colombo, earlier this month. The middle-order batsman
will return to the fold in the next Test, which will begin on June 30th at Colombo.
Pakistan lost the match by a massive total of 209 runs and a number of question marks were raised over umpiring decisions, many of which were debatable and went against the visitors.
Some of the former cricketers believe that the governing body of the game should make the best use of technology and make it necessary for every international game, in order to minimise errors.
Pakistan’s T20 skipper thinks that not having DRS in a series puts an additional burden on the on-field umpires and is probably the reason why http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ian-James-Gould-c63876 failed to cope with pressure in the Galle Test.
Hafeez said, "One thing I want to say is that it is time for the highest authorities to make a decision about the DRS. It should be compulsory for every game. I feel as a player, not having the DRS puts a lot of pressure on you and that pressure goes to
the umpires."
In its recent meeting in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 seriously considered making the DRS mandatory in every match. However, the Indian's are insistent against the technology's use, claiming it is still not error-free.
The stand-in Test captain showed his frustration after the match and felt that technology’s use should be consistent at the ultimate level of the game.
"If this technology can improve this game, then why not? The authorities should either go for it [DRS] or not at all," the all-rounder added.
