Mohammad Irfan hopes to play in the on-going SLPL – Cricket News Update
Pakistan’s out of favour fast bowler, Mohammad Irfan, has revealed that he has been contacted by the Sri Lanka Premier League’s (SLPL’s) management to take part in the cash-rich tournament and will be flying to the Island if he gets his passport ready in
time.
A number of Pakistani players are taking part in the inaugural edition of the SLPL and the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Malik-c90088 and some others have been doing brilliantly for their respective franchises.
Irfan debuted for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 but failed to impress, going wicket-less on both the occasions.
The lanky fast bowler however, has been playing club cricket in Karachi in August, impressing the analysts and showing evident improvement in his game.
While talking to Pakpassion, the 30-year-old cricketer revealed that his passport is currently stuck in the US embassy; otherwise he would have been in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, playing the illustrious league. Irfan is still confident that he will play in the
later stages of the tournament.
He said, "I am really excited by this news. Inshallah with all your prayers, I hope all issues can be resolved with my passport and if given a chance, I will do well in this tournament."
The cricketer from Gaggu Mandi has so far picked up more than a hundred wickets in the 27 first-class matches he has played for different domestic teams in the country so far.
Basit Ali, the former Test cricketer, is a great fan of the tall left-armer and criticised the selectors for ignoring him, despite some impressive performances at the national level. He said recently that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Irfan-c64444, due to his height, is extremely hard to tackle
for the batsmen.
"If there’s one fast bowler who has done well in all of the Ramadan cricket tournaments recently, it’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Irfan-c76983. He looked fit and he bowled well,” the former cricketer expressed. “Not selecting him shows that these guys do not know who is suited to
which form of cricket. Irfan’s height gives him a big advantage - that’s what these selectors are unable to understand."
