Out of favour Pakistani middle-order batsman, Mohammad Yousuf is geared up to make a comeback to the national team and wants to revive his career even at the age of 37.
The stylish batsman last represented Pakistan in the One Day International series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE) in 2010 and since then he has been out of the national team because the selection committee was not satisfied with his fitness
level.
Yousuf is considered to be one of the best middle-order batsmen produced by the country as he has scored more than 17000 runs in international cricket with the help of 39 hundreds.
However, Pakistan team has done quite well in international cricket since last year and a half in his absence and some young batsmen like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Asad-Shafiq-c46208 have cemented their place in the Test team.
Yousuf gave a fitness test in the National Cricket Academy today and seems to be in the liking of Pakistan’s coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Davenell-Frederick-Whatmore-c52571. While talking to the reporters afterwards, Yousuf expressed his desire to play for Pakistan once again and believes that he
can still play international cricket for a couple of years.
"I have given a fitness test and now the result is in the hands of PCB. I am ready to play for my country and still have enough cricket left in me,” the great batsman said.
There is no doubt about the class of Yousuf but most of the cricket analysts in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 believe that the country should look to build a team for the future and this is the reason why PCB should continue to show trust on some of the younger batsmen, so that
they can serve the country in the years to come.
Apart from Yousuf, other cricketers like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kamran-Akmal-c70122 also gave fitness tests organized by Whatmore in order to assess some of the discarded players.
"The fitness test was designed to give everyone an idea where they stand now and after a prescription of work to re-test and see the improvement," said Whatmore.
