Mohammad Yousuf injures hamstring before South African tour
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 when their middle-order batsman, Mohammad Yousuf, was injured during a net session. Yousuf strained his hamstring
and has now been asked to rest before the start of the series.
Pakistan will leave for Abu Dhabi in a couple of days for the start of the tour against South Africa that will include a couple of T20Is and five ODIs.
"He should be okay in three days time but for the moment he has been told to rest," said Pakistan coach Waqar Younis.
What was surprising was that Yousuf, who usually has to be hidden in the field because of his inept fielding, was declared the best fielder of the Faysal Bank T20 domestic tournament. He had led the Lahore
side to a title as well and looked good to be a part of the T20 squad too.
Yousuf was the captain of the Pakistani side earlier this year on their tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 but was given the axe after the tour. He was also banned from playing cricket before the PCB revoked the ban and brought
him back into the side for the series against England. He started off well with a fifty but his form tapered off towards the end of the tour.
Speaking to the media, Younis added that the rest of the players were in fine form and training hard on their fielding. He admitted that the Pakistani fielding has not been of good standards and they had
to focus on the same.
Younis said: "The catching really let us down and what is disappointing for me is that I saw the same poor fielding standards with a few exceptions here and there in the national T20 championship. To beat
a top well drilled outfit like South Africa the fielding and catching has to be 100 per cent."
Younis also said that the curators in Abu Dhabi had been instructed to prepare the tracks according to the strength of the Pakistani side. Pakistan go in with three spinners in the Test squad which points
to the fact that the surfaces will turn and play slower and lower.
