Mohammad Yousuf might make it to World Cup probables' list
The former captain and stylish middle order batsman of Pakistan cricket team Mohammad Yousuf is likely to be included in the 30-man preliminary squad for the ICC World Cup 2011.
Pakistan Cricket Board chief http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 to finalise a squad for the upcoming World Cup. Afridi hinted in the meeting that the team would need an experienced batsman like Yousuf for the mega event.
Yousuf was dropped form the national side following his fitness issues and lack of form. He was in the team for the Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 but the star batsman became unfit and missed the series.
Pakistan skipper Afridi said, “I do believe that a fit Yousuf can really provide a boost to our World Cup squad. He has the experience and the skills to anchor the innings against any kind of opposition and on any surface. All Pakistan needs from him is to attain full match fitness.”
Yousuf is currently playing league cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 and is eager to represent the national team in the mega event. He has even taken a physical trainer along with him so that he can train well.
Yousuf is one of the best players ever produced by Pakistan. He has represented the country in 288 ODIs and has scored 9,720 runs at an impressive average of 41.71. He saw a serious dip in form in 2010 and was only able to score 117 runs in his last eight outings for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755.
The PCB chairman confirmed to Afridi he would advise the selectors of considering the veteran batsman for the World Cup squad.
36-year-old Yousuf may not get another opportunity to represent his country in any World Cup after the 2011 tournament.
He will be hoping to regain some form as his last fifty for the national team came almost 12 months ago. The Board will also announce the squad for the ODIs in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 and it may be an opportunity for Yousuf to prove his worth if he is selected.
