Mohammad Yousuf wants another stint with Pakistan – Cricket News Update
Mohammad Yousuf, the 37-year-old cricketer, is eager to don the baggy green once more. The right-handed batsman, in an interview to ESPNcricinfo, has said that his passion for cricket never faded and returning
to Pakistan’s national side is his ultimate goal.
Yousuf has not played any form of professional cricket since a Twenty20 match between Lahore http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808 and Rawalpindi Rams at Faisalabad, on June 30, 2011. Yousuf took some time off from cricket, due to personals
reasons, is back now and wants to make-up for the lost time.
Still hungry for more international cricket at the age of 37, Yousuf said, “I never lost my passion for cricket. There were certain commitments in my life that got higher priority for a while, but now I
am hungry to play.”
Yousuf, who has a controversial past, wants to make amends. He said, “I don't want to live in past, people learn from mistakes. I have always tried to do my best, but sometimes things go wrong. I can't change
the past, but I can only hope to revive my career.”
The middle-order batsman is not bothered about One-Dayers, as he wants a place in the Test team. The 37-year-old’s prime focus is to play in the 5-day format, as he feels that he is still of some value in
the longest format of the game.
“I am least concerned about ODIs. My focus [right now] is Test cricket, I want to play it. My basics are right and I have lots of experience under my belt. No one plays forever, but I still have cricket
left [in me] and I have a role to play,” said Yousuf, who is raring for another stint with the Men in Green.
Yousuf has been out of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 side since a year and a half. The holder of 90 Test and 288 ODI caps for Pakistan last featured in an international match for the Green Shirts in November, 2010.
However, the newly appointed coach of Pakistan, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Davenell-Frederick-Whatmore-c52571, has shown interest in bringing back the controversial cricketer. Yousuf has been asked to prove his fitness by taking part in domestic competitions,
and if he proves his worth he may very well be part of Pakistani team that is scheduled to tour http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in June this year.
