Mohawk Ridge to land the ABF The Soldier’s Charity Handicap
Quite a few for the Class 4 ABF The Soldier’s Charity Handicap have been placed in the races that they took part in most recently. Eight three-year and above contestants have turned for the mile, five furlong and 175 yards race at Catterick on Tuesday, 7th August. The prize money set for the race is £4,075.
The six-year-old Mohawk Ridge is the only candidate on the line-up to have won recently at Catterick. The bay gelding kick started the season with the Yorkshire-Outdoors.Co.UK Handicap on 11th April, 2012 at Catterick over a mile and six furlongs.
The good to soft ground saw Golden Future winning by the margin of 2 ¼ lengths as the favourite entry of the race, Hi Dancer, ended second.
Filling up the third position was, Mohawk Ridge.
Storming Home’s bay gelding then failed in the next three races.
Four races down the season had the Michael Dods’ trained winning at the same race course. The favourite entry won the Racing Again Next Wednesday Handicap on 4th July, 2012 at Catterick over two miles. Riding with jockey, Lee Topliss, the two stayed prominent throughout, led when there were three more furlongs to go and then got ridden clear, but stayed strong and won by the margin of 2 ½ lengths.
Bijou Dan settled in right after the winner and was soon followed by, Anna’s Arch.
The bay gelding out of mare, Ipsa Loquitur, raced the most recent in the 127th Year Of Watt Memorial Handicap on 17th July, 2012 at the Beverley race course over two miles. Moon Trip won the race by a good five lengths and set the favourite entry of the race, Mojolika, into the second position.
Ending third for a second time during the new season was, Mohawk Ridge.
Today it will be the third time during the season that the Doug Graham owned will race at Catterick. The 13 to 2 entry will race with the rider, Lee Topliss, and the duo has drawn the third gate to race from.
He will need to look out for the 9 to 4 entry, Bute Hall, as the level of the Mark Johnston trained is likely to shine through in the race today.
