Mohawk Stakes at Belmont Park will be Compliance Officer’s next assignment after a nearly perfect season so far
The son of Officer, Compliance Officer, is really on his game in light of his last four races. he has gone on to win all four of them on the trot and his 2011 season looks in good shape with 4 wins out of 5 starts.
Compliance Officer has run over a distance, ranging from 6 furlongs to 1 1/8 miles, and he has progressed on whatever trainer Bruce Brown has laid in front of him.
Starting from June, where it all started for the 5-year-old gelding, he represented Bruce Brown in an allowance claimer at Belmont Park over its turf course.
He ran over a distance of six furlongs under C Velasquez and won the race on 16 June, 2011, with a winning time of 1 minute and 8 seconds.
Next up was another allowance claimer at Belmont Park that he claimed easily over seven furlongs with a winning time of 1 minute and 21.53 seconds, but this time under jockey Alex Solis.
Done with allowance claimers, Bruce Brown opted for West Point Handicap, and sent his gelding to run over a longer distance of 1 1/16 miles and with boys who know how to win.
Compliance Officer taught them a thing or two about winning, when he downed the favoured Pocket Cowboys to win the race at Saratoga’s turf course on 18 August, 2011.
It had got to be a good schedule from Bruce Brown to keep Compliance Officer in the winning zone, and with fingers crossed, his connections chose a re-match with Pocket Cowboys in the $100,000 Ashley T. Cole, hoping he would annihilate him once again.
It was a West Point Handicap repeat, other than Pocket Cowboys improving his finish from third to second place in the Ashley Cole, and managing to put up a little fight but that was it.
Compliance Officer showed no mercy as he won the West Point Handicap by 3 ½ lengths over Pocket Cowboys.
At the latest, if Bruce Brown’s schedule holds, Compliance Officer will go up in class to compete in a stakes' race, the $125,000 Mohawk Stakes at Belmont Park on 22 October, 2011.
Out of Purple Hills by Dynaformer, Compliance Officer by the looks of it will fit in just fine and broaden his horizon of racing, gradually climbing up to the graded stakes' level.
