Mohd Fairuzizuan, Nurvita Hanadia surge into Mixed Doubles pre quarter-finals - Vietnam Open Update
Mixed doubles experts Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari and Keshya Nurvita Hanadia secured a berth in pre quarter-finals of Yonex Sunrise Vietnam Open GP after thrashing Sa Rang Kim-Hye In Choi on August 22, 2012.
This first round match was played at local badminton arena of Ho Chih Minh in Vietnam and it lasted for 50 minutes before ending with final figures of 16-21, 21-19 and 21-18.
The scratch pair of Mohd Fairuzizuan and Nurvita Hanadia, who belong to Malaysia and Indonesia respectively, showed superb coordination and cleared the first hurdle in this Grand Prix event.
On the other hand, the Korean campaigners failed to forge a productive chemistry and surrendered tamely.
Though, Sa Rang and Hye In established the upper hand by clinching the very first match point but they could make best out of this advantage and crashed out.
In the first set, they established the foundation of their supremacy by prevailing in opening rallies and then strengthened their grip with a few consecutive points.
They did not lose this rhythm at any stage of the game and finished opening game with a notable five-point difference in 21-16 score.
The following game was full of drama as at one stage Koreans were in strong position to transform their 1-0 lead into a straight-set win but then the opposing team counter-balanced the situation with a gutsy performance.
Fairuzizuan and Nurvita Hanadia did not lose their nerve after the first set loss and showed elevated craft to avoid a woeful exit.
They made their intentions clear by grabbing a few successive points straight away in the beginning and then mounted pressure with some uninterrupted rallies just before the interval.
Later part of the game saw them in prime touch as they maintained a slight edge until final moments and swept the table with 21-19 margin.
The twosome of Fairuzizuan and Nurvita managed to go with the same flow in the decider and outclassed their challengers technically and tactically.
They bagged the first half with decent total of 11 and then doubled the impact with decisive figure of 21-18.
Now they will be up against Putra Eka Rhoma-Rizki Amelia Pradipta in second round of Vietnam Open.
