Mohd Zakry and Mohd Tazari clinch Men’s Doubles title at Taiwan Open GP Gold
Malaysia’s independent shuttlers Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif and Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari shut the mouth of critics by claiming Men’s Doubles title at the Taiwan Open GP Gold 2012 on Sunday, October 7, in Taiwan.
In the final battle, the Malaysian duo stamped their mark over their higher ranked opponents Angga Pratama and Ryan Agung Saputra of Indonesia, who were the top seeds in the tournament.
The World Number 27 Mohd Zakry and Mohd Tazari were the second seeds in the main draw and they showed that there is still much badminton left in them as they proved their worth and easily thrashed their Indonesian challengers in straight games with a crushing
margin on score board.
On the other hand, the higher ranked Indonesian shuttlers could not play positive badminton as they did not expect to face such a shocking treatment from the second seeded Malaysian opponents.
Indonesian players lost the match in a humiliating manner as they could not even show a strong resistance and bowed down tamely to their opponents.
After winning the competition, an elated Mohd Zakry expressed his happiness by saying that they this is one of the most satisfying performance the duo have produced for the last one year.
He stated, “Thank goodness we finally won! I’m really happy with this win because this is one the best performances we’ve produced in the past year.”
He further added, “Result-wise, this is certainly the best that I have achieved alongside Fairuzizuan since the Thailand Open earlier in June. Hopefully, we’ll be able to carry on playing like this ... but we’ve got to work on our consistency.”
Mohd Zakry and Mohd Tazari left the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) last year and joined KLRC and started to play as independent players.
In the final battle of Taiwan Open, Mohd Zakry and Mohd Tazari played to their maximum potential and managed to set up a huge lead in opening half of the set without showing any respect to their higher ranked challengers.
After the break, the Malaysian duo continued putting up spectacular show of powerful shots and eventually took the opening set with a stunning 21-12 score on the board.
The following set of the contest, Mohd Zakry and Mohd Tazari continued showing up their staggering skills without showing any mercy to their higher ranked challengers and they easily took a wonderful lead until the break.
After the interval, Mohd Zakry and Mohd Tazari remained positive and focused and they did not commit any mistake in ending up the set with a 21-14 score on the board.
Mohd Zakry and Mohd Tazari won this Men’s Doubles title match in a completely dominating manner with a huge difference of 21-12 and 21-14.
