Pakistan’s defeat at the hands of Australia in the ODI series continues to draw criticism from cricket pundits and fans. Former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319, have expressed displeasure at the loss, attributing it to the incompetence
of team management and the captain.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohsin-c77587, a former chief selector and national coach, said the familiar conditions in UAE have always favoured the Green Shirts, who enjoyed an exemplary record on the slow, spin-friendly wickets.
"Pakistan were hot favourites for the series. Our team was better than http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in the conditions," Mohsin told a newspaper.
Pakistan lost both their matches at Sharjah, which has historically remained the most celebrated hunting ground for the Asian Giants. Criticising the team’s game-plan, the former opener blamed poor decision-making.
"What I feel is that there was lack of a proper game plan. We failed to capitalise on good starts and made illogical decisions in crucial stages."
"Removing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saeed-Ajmal-c87859 from the attack when he was on fire in the final ODI was a blunder," the 57-year-old said.
Falling just short of placing the entire blame on skipper Misbah ul Haq, Mohsin further added that Coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Davenell-Frederick-Whatmore-c52571 was equally responsible for the debacle, which saw the Asian Giants lose their third successive ODI series this year.
"Misbahul Haq is a hardworking player but not a smart captain. He needs guidance, which he is unfortunately not getting," the former right-handed batsman remarked.
Another former opener and Pakistan Captain, Aamir Sohail, questioned the tactics used by Misbah and lashed out at the Pakistan skipper for underutilising his resources at crunch moments.
"He should learn how to use his fast-bowlers like Australia did. He didn’t utilise http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Junaid-Khan-c77037 when the spinners were struggling with the wet ball," Sohail added.
The Pakistan captain was blamed for not reviewing Michael Hussey's lbw call, when replays revealed that the Australian batsman was out. Hussey went on to play a match-winning innings (65) and led his side to clinch the series against the Green Shirts.
The two teams will next face-off each other to play three T20Is starting on September 5 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
