Former chief selector, Mohsin Khan, has praised Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for its continuous efforts to revive international cricket on home soil.
“It’s good to see that the PCB is determined to revive international cricket,” said Khan while talking to The Express Tribune.
PCB, under the guidance of its chairman Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397, has been working hard in convincing other boards to tour the cricket-starved nation, but so far all their attempts have yielded limited results.
After months of negotiation between PCB and BCB, both governing bodies finally came to a conclusion of playing a bilateral series at the former’s home. However, any hopes of revival were dealt a blow, following the involvement of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 High Court,
which restricted the national team from touring Pakistan by postponing the scheduled series for four weeks, citing security concerns as the major cause.
The 57-year-old ex-interim coach, however, believes that PCB must vest its effort in trying of persuade the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 and England to come and play in the region as oppose to inviting smaller, or any other, domestic teams. Despite being snubbed by
the current PCB hierarchy, Mohsin has further extended his support by claiming that he is ready to help his former employers, and is confident of attracting other international teams – which in turn will help end the cricketing drought in the country.
“But in my opinion the board should target big teams from outside Asia like Australia and England,” said the former right handed batsman.
“It’s not an impossible task but it all depends on the plan and the way we convince such teams. For that purpose, I’m offering my services. I’m confident that I can make a productive contribution,” said Khan.
According to the cricketer-turned-actor, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 needs to focus on improving its domestic structure, arguing that a solid base will prove key in helping the national team to compete with other nations on a regular basis, inspite of fact they do not play
their home matches in their own country – citing the example of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
“We have an example of South Africa who did not play international cricket for over two decades but still returned as a force due to their domestic structure,” added http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319.
