Mohsin Khan believes Pakistan can beat England
PCB’s Chief Selector Mohsin Khan is confident that a spirited Pakistani team can defeat England on their home soil. While talking to the media in Lahore on Wednesday, Khan was full of praise for Pakistan’s new captain Salman Butt who led Pakistan to its first victory over Australia in 15 years in his first test as captain. Mohsin, who averaged 37.10 in test cricket, said that Pakistan can defeat England only through consistency and professionalism. Khan admitted that England will have an extra edge because of favourable home conditions. While talking to a private news channel, Mohsin praised the technically sound English batsman.
Mohsin Khan said, “The English team will have the advantage of home conditions, and their batsmen are technically sound on their own pitches. Pakistani players will have to perform professionally in every department of the game to beat them on their soil.”
The former opening batsman further added that Pakistani batsmen will have to complement their bowlers. He believes that it will be easy for Pakistani bowlers if our batsman can post a score of more than 300 in the first innings. Pakistan’s bowling has performed brilliantly while the batting department has disappointed on almost every occasion. It was Pakistan’s superb bowling that ripped apart Australian star-studded batting line up on a paltry score of 88 runs in the second test match.
Pakistan will face England in the four test match series starting from the 29th of July. Pakistan will play its first test match at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Mohsin further added that the batsmen always face difficulty while playing in England but Strauss and his men will be well accustomed to their home conditions. The Pakistani bowlers will have to be at their very best to outplay the technically sound English batsmen. Bowling at the right line and length will serve as the key to success in England.
“Previously, batsmen of every team struggled playing in England. But as the home team’s batsmen are accustomed to play under those conditions, they can give a tough challenge to our bowlers. To make life difficult for English batsmen, our bowlers will have to bowl on right line and length,” he said.
The chief selector was full of praise for Salman Butt for keeping the fighting spirit alive. He said that breaking the jinx against Australia will help them regain their past confidence. Mohsin claimed that it will be very important to carry on with the same fighting spirit in the upcoming series against England. He also hailed Butt’s good decision making, which allowed Pakistan to defeat http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746.
Pakistan is currently playing with an inexperienced batting line up. Azhar Ali and Umar Amin bat at number three and four for Pakistan who have only played two test matches till date. Both players have been praised by cricketing pundits for their temperament and rock solid technique. Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan are out of the current squad because of disciplinary issues. When Mohsin http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 was asked about the future of Yousuf and Younis, he said, “As both the players [Yousuf and Younis] have not been cleared by the PCB, the selection committee cannot consider them,” he said. “And moreover, there is no demand from the tour selection committee for any change. Therefore, the selectors cannot consider any change by themselves during the tour.”

Pakistan has played a total of 67 test matches against England, out of which http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 has won 12 test matches while England has won 19 matches. 36 matches were drawn without any result.
Out of these 67 test matches, 45 were played in England. Out of these 45 matches, Pakistan won 9 test matches while England won 18 test matches.
Surely the records put England as the favourites to win this series. However, Pakistan will be hoping to continue their good form under the guidance of Salman Butt to prove that this team is not a one-shot wonder. Consistency at the top level will serve as the real test for this newly built team.
