Mohsin Khan expects a batting-friendly pitch at Sharjah - Cricket News Update
The interim coach of Pakistan cricket team, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohsin-c77587 Khan, expects the Sharjah wicket to favour the batsmen in the third and the final Test of the three-match series to be played at the Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium, on November 3, 2011.
Mohsin, a former Test cricketer of Pakistan, said that during his playing career Sharjah always assisted the batters and hoped it would be a traditional Sharjah track when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 and Sri Lanka face off on Thursday.
"The pitch at Sharjah will of course dictate the game plan. When I played there many years ago it was always a batsman-friendly surface,” said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohsin-Hasan-Khan-c77595 while talking to the media reporters on Monday.
“I hope we get a track that is similar to the Dubai one, but perhaps not one that deteriorates as much as the Dubai wicket did later in the match," he added further.
After a convincing nine-wicket win in the second Test at Dubai last week, Pakistan is currently leading the series 1-0. Mohsin, who was named as the Pakistan coach for the Sri Lanka series after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193 stepped down from the coveted role last month,
said that they would go into the third Test with an aim of winning the game to seal the series with a 2-0 lead.
A series win over Sri Lanka will also help Pakistan improve their Test ranking. Currently Pakistan stands at number six on the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758. A series win would help Misbah and his men get past the Lankans on the rankings
table.
Mohsin, who has been partially released from his role as the chief selector of Pakistan Cricket Board to work with the team as an interim coach, also praised the team spirit in Pakistan camp and was hopeful the side has the potential to improve further.
"I'm really pleased with the team spirit in the camp and I think this group of players has the potential to improve further... and God willing I am confident that the team will continue to improve," said the Pakistan coach.
