Mohsin Khan questions PCB selection - Cricket News Update
Former coach of the national team, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board for the World T20 Cup, scheduled for mid-September in Sri Lanka.
The squad for the mega-event was announced recently which saw the selectors preferring experience over youth, recalling http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ahmed-Shehzad-c42359, Hammad Azam and Junaid Khan.
Mohsin was highly critical of such stance, claiming that the selection should be gauged by domestic performances rather than T20 tournaments. He further added that the players who have been selected may have fitness issues and a quick tournament could have
been organized by the PCB to measure their conditions.
“If the selectors are giving preference to the players’ performance in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 Premier League and English county cricket, then all first-class cricket in Pakistan should be abolished,” Mohsin said.
“I am surprised that the team was announced so early because still there is a lot of time left for the Aussie series. It has been reported in the media that the team was named in haste because coach [Dav] Whatmore had to leave for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 which means the
coach has the final say in the selection of the team and not the selection committee,” added further.
He was highly disappointed with the exclusions of Ahmed Shahzad and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758. While the opening batsmen featured in just the two T20Is during the tour, where he scored a combined 42, the
left-arm quick was the team’s best bowler during the Test series, troubling the Lankan batters with raw pace.

against Sri Lanka.
