Confusion continues to prevail within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over the appointment of a new head coach for the national side - a position left vacant after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193’ resignation in September this year.
Last week, it was reported that the board had almost reached an agreement with Dave Whatmore and Julian Fountain for the head coach and fielding coach positions respectively, and the two would be visiting Lahore during the next month to sign their contracts.
However, things took a u-turn when the interim Pakistani coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohsin-Hasan-Khan-c77595, was asked by PCB’s chairman Zaka Ashraf to submit a formal application to the Intikhab Alam-led committee, forged for the recommendation of coaches for the national team - reports claimed.
"Mohsin was told to submit a formal application if he wanted to be considered for a permanent position as head coach with the national team," a well placed source inside the board revealed.
Mohsin, a former Pakistani Test player, was relieved of his duties as PCB’s chief selector after Waqar Younis resigned from the head coach position. Mohsin was then appointed as an interim coach of the national team for the October-November series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in UAE.

A source told reporters that during his meeting with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohsin-c77587 conveyed his disappointment over PCB’s move to appoint a foreign coach for the team overlooking his successful stint as interim coach.
"Mohsin, when he met with the PCB Chief had conveyed his disappointment that despite doing well as a coach he was constantly on trial and the board was not willing to trust him with a permanent job of the head coach," a source said.
"After which he was told that the PCB had not decided as yet on who would be the permanent coach of the team, and also asked him to enter the mainstream by submitting a formal application with the committee appointed to shortlist candidates for the coveted position."
