Mohsin Khan discards Coaching Qualification – Cricket News Update
Mohsin Khan, the interim coach of the Pakistan national team, claims that experience is more worthy than qualification, while rejecting the idea of selecting someone on a criterion.
The former right-handed batsman, who played 48 Tests and 75 ODIs with a batting average of 37.10 and 26.81 respectively, was appointed as the interim coach of the national team in Oct 2011, when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193 stepped down due to health issues.
Mohsin, in his short tenure so far, has mentored Pakistan to 3 successful series triumph over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 and notably the English contingent, against whom his side completed a three-nil Test whitewash. However, the team has suffered their first series defeat in the ongoing ODI bouts against the Poms, which has raised questions over the 56-year-old’s capabilities.
Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman, Zaka Ashraf, acknowledged the advancements attained under Mohsin’s coaching period, however a qualified coach is still his preference to maintain the team’s winning momentum.
"No doubt the team has achieved tremendous success under http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397.
Mohsin, however, is very optimistic about his expertise, and believes that his familiarity with the game is sufficient for the post, currently held by him on a temporary basis.
"Any cricketer who has played for his country for nine or ten years and played 40 to 50 to 80 to 100 matches does not need any qualification.” Mohsin said.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 has been disappointing, especially after the remarkable feat achieved in the longer version. Most of the team players are currently down with the flu, which forced them to miss training on Sunday however, Mohsin told the press that "they are better than they were, but flu does not go away in a day".
According to the interim coach, the performance of the players have been affected by homesickness, considering most of the time they play cricket outside of Pakistan, despite being provided the best of facilities.
It is inevitable that the board will replace the interim coach with a new permanent Head Coach. One of the most likely candidates remains the 57-year-old Davenell Whatmore. For now, the main rational behind appointing Whatmore seems his qualification, which currently stand far superior to that of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohsin-Hasan-Khan-c77595.
