Pakistan’s former captain, Moin Khan, has asked Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to include the leg-spinner, Danish Kaneria in Pakistan’s national team.
The former wicket keeper has shown confidence over the talent of the leggy, and asserted that he should be picked in the Pakistani squad.
Moin, who served his country in 69 Tests, and 219 One Day Internationals, thinks that the 30-year-old, Kaneria is fully capable to represent Pakistan in all three formats of the game.
The PCB has been neglecting Kaneria because of spot-fixing charges, which were put on him during his county stint for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Essex-c783 in 2010.
Despite of the fact that the Essex Police had cleared Kaneria from the criminal charges, PCB handed his case to its integrity committee to investigate the case.
Meanwhile, the Karachi-born leg-spinner, Kaneria has been facing PCB’s integrity committee to seek clearance for selection.
PCB’s integrity committee has been asking the leggy to get clearance certificate from his County to prove that he is eligible to represent Essex.
While fulfilling the integrity committee’s requirement, Kaneria handed over a clearance letter to the committee, which he received from Essex.
However, PCB has still been ignoring Kaneria, which compelled the Test spinner to knock the Court’s door to seek justice.
While responding to Kaneria’s petition, the Sindh High Court (SHC) asked the governing body of cricket in Pakistan to submit its detailed stance over the reservation regarding the leg spinner.
In the meantime, SHC also advised the leggy to resubmit the clearance letter after getting it from his County; however, the issue has not been resolved yet and Kaneria is looking forward to represent Pakistan.
Coming back to Moin’s support for Kaneria, he asserted that if PCB can provide clearance to others (referring to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Malik-c90088, who was also facing integrity committee), then they should follow same policy for the talented leg spinner.
Kaneria, who has not been playing International cricket since the last summer, has served his country in 61 Test matches, 18 One Day International fixtures, taking 261, and 15 wickets respectively.
