New South Wales’ premier all-rounder, Moises Henriques, is relieved to have scored his maiden first-class century and hopes that it is the first of many to come.
The 25-year-old cricketer smashed a brilliant 161 not out against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tasmania-c854 earlier in the season off merely 229 balls with the help of 15 boundaries and four massive hits out of the park, and followed it up with a superb half-century
in the second innings.
Henriques made his first-class debut in 2006 and it took him six years to register his first hundred, which is quite surprising, taking into account the fact that the all-rounder is considered by the national selectors as one of the
most talented players in the country.
The Portugal-born cricketer expressed that he is delighted to have achieved the feet.
“I always felt it wasn't far away,” Henriques told ESPNcricinfo. “It was good just to get that one under the belt and be able to relax a little bit more now when I sleep at night instead of wondering when that first big one is coming.”
Henriques made his limited-over debut for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 at home and has so far played two One Day Internationals (ODIs) and a T20 for the Kangaroos. The budding player however, is yet to make an impression at
the highest level of the game and is desperately waiting for another opportunity in international cricket.
The all-rounder played an important role in the Sydney Sixers’ title triumph in the Champions League T20 2012, played in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757. Henriques has so far scored 10 first-class half-centuries and has grabbed 72 victims in 36 matches.
Henriques further added that he always had confidence in his batting abilities but understands that he needs to perform consistently at the Sheffield Shield level to strengthen his case for national selection.
“I always knew it wasn't going to be far away but it's very good to get it over and done with early in the season. It is just the start of the season and it's important to continue on for the full duration now,” the all-rounder added.
