Mojita likely to thrive in Herald Handicap
Mojita is likely to unleash a rock-solid run in an effort to lift the ace title of the Roscommon Herald Handicap that will go down at Roscommon racecourse today, June 12. The high-volume contest will commence at 6:50 (GMT).
Mojita has been performing well since the dawn of the calendar year. During the first half of the last month, the K. J. Condon-trained bay filly bagged a couple of consecutive runner-up ranks. She moved on to finish 6th in a big event on May 20.
The brilliant daughter of Montjeu out of Hatalan marvellously notched up top spot in her last outing on May 28. This was the Irish Stallion Farms Eurpean Breeders Fund (Fillies) Race that was held at Ballinrobe track where the maverick sprinter emphatically
defeated the hot favourite runner Cloudracer to register the second success of her career.
At the moment, the fantastic filly is carrying a lot of confidence and fighting spirit that will lend a great hand to her today.
In the Herald Handicap, Mojita will face half a dozen rivals such as Harrison’s Cave, Tornedo Shay, Rattan, Paddy The Celeb, Celtic Dane and The Drunken Dr.
The dashing filly will run daringly on the soft course of 1 mile and 4 furlongs while pursing the prize cheque worth €13,650.
Among Mojita’s rivals, Paddy The Celeb will also endeavour for success today. The M. Halford-trained novice gelding elegantly notched up first position in his last outing on May 21, 2012---he was 4-1 favourite for that race.
In fact, he had been a hot favourite runner in each of his last two starts. In today’s venture, he is likely to give tough time to Mojita.
Tornedo Shay too seems to be strong enough. The T. J. O’Mara-trained gelding marvellously bagged a couple of consecutive triumphs during May-June 2011. He proceeded to finish as a runner-up in his last outing on July 12. Thus, he can impede both Mojita and
Paddy The Celeb.
In this situation, there is likely to be a rip-roaring clash at Roscommon. Let us see who manages to carry the day and how. Good luck to all the contestants.
