Ok...so I'm having trouble with molarity.

What is the molarity of a solution which contains 58.5 g of NaCl dissolved in 0.50 L of solution

If you can break it down for me it would be awesome!

  1. Your answer should be c. 2 moles.

    You have 117 g in one litre.

    rmm NaCl is c. half that.

    It's OK!


  2. m = 59.5 g NaCl

    V = 0.50 L

    Molarity is usually kg/L so you want to convert mass from g to Kg

    1000 g = 1 Kg

    m = 59.5/1000 Kg = 0.0595 Kg

    V = 0.50 L

    Molarity is m/V = 0.0595/0.50 M
