Question:

Mold in Carpet areas

I have moved to a condo about 2 months ago and it is on the ground level and has wall to wall carpeting. About a week a?go I found mold in the carpet in some covered areas but not all of them. Before this, when ever it rained there would be puddles of rain right by the door. I called the landlord because I rent and she looked at the mold and told me that its because my AC is not on all the time, I only put it on some times. That is all she said and I might be allergic to it because when ever I come home I have a headache, Should I hire an inspector at my own cost or is it the landlord responsibility. Also she said she called the maintenance to see if any one else had that problem and she said nothing like this happened. Could it be because of the AC not being on all the time?

  1. Your landlord is blowing you off. I've never heard of not running AC causing mold.  At any rate, the mold is there and it doesn't matter how it got there. You can run your AC all day and the mold won't go away.

If you want to hire an inspector or a mold remediation company at your own expense, that's up to you.  Certainly, I would sue the landlord in civil court for the expense.  The carpeting needs to come out now. not later, and something needs to be done to clean up the mold.  I fail to understand how it is that someone who owns a property will let it go to shambles ( meaning the landlord ).  She will not get maximum dollar for the property when she leaves it like that.

  2. Sweety call the landlord and get that carpet replaced mould is bad and if your A/C wasn't on then where is the water coming from A/C units drain when it is hot out side. NO

tell her you want it replaced and tell her your going to call some onelike the city inspector to check it out. If its is not replaced because your having headaches and that is one of the signs of bad mold. BUt check yourself out too. Just to let you know if it is you have to move fast and take you stuff out before the mold get bigger. Your stuff will stay there if they find it is toxic. Hurry
