On the inside of my cat's water dish, there is this weird pink stuff. I'm able to wipe it off, and that's just what I do. But I'm just wondering... what IS it?

  1. there are many things it could be. the mouth of a cat is not clean. they catch mice, other animals. they clean their body parts, they have cat litter on their claws that they clean out with their toung. many bacterias can be put into the water. the water needs to be cleaned daily. mroe than 1 time a day. i have about 7 cats? sometimes the food may also get in  the water and it staying their for a long time could cause a modly reaction. its not bad if you throw the dish away. but id just clean it out and put it under boiling hot water which kills all bacteria. just watch the dish and keep it clean!

  2. It sounds like mold. Toss it to be safe. Get a stainless steel bowl. It will keep the water cool and it stays cleaner longer. I wash my cats' bowls once a week but you should do it every day.

  3. Throw away the dish and use one that is made of metal or glass.

    Good Luck!
