I would like to know what kind of person to contact to come inspect the mold in my house and tell me if it is black mold or what kind of mold it is. What kind of person does this? And does it cost, if so how much? We have looked in the phone book but could not find a person that said 'mold inspecters' lol, so yeah, if you could help thanks.

  1. I'd call a bunch of different people.  One the county inspectors, see if they can recommend someone.  An independent inspector that is mold certified.  You can negotiate costs up front.  If you can kill the mold by keeping the water out of the house it would be the best.

  2. You can test it yourself. Any hardware store sells the kits. $ 30

  3. Here's a mold expert's website that provides helpful info:

For a summary of some of the remarkable research on toxic mold removal done by this guy, see

By all means, have someone come out and tell you what you're dealing with. But they may not yet know about the above research which may offer a much cheaper solution than they will.

  4. phone book, look for mold testers or remediation help

  5. Look under Industrial Hygienist or air quality testing companies.  They can perform air quality tests to determine what and how much is in the air. They can also perform surface testing to let you know what is on a given surface.  They can also advise you on how to eliminate it and perform post elimination testing to make sure its gone.  They are not cheap!  The least expensive test I've ever coordinated was $700.00.  The more they do i.e. samples, reports, etc.   the more their services will cost.
