Please explain me what's the difference between this compounds

Just a few days ago I knew that the compounds were joined because one is a cation and the another one an anion, there were electron transference and for me was logic because different poles experiment attraction, but then I read that exists the Molecular Compounds in which there's no exist electron transference, then how they join?

Please explain me I'm confused

  1. Well, there are several types of bonds between molecules. Ionic bond is of the types and whatever you know about them is absolutely right.

Now u consider another type - Covalent bonds. As the name shows, Co Valent .... they are formed by sharing of electrons.

In this the bonding molecules share electrons, like in C-H bond, H wants 1 electron to complete its outter shell, while C needs 4 MORE electrons. So they both will not give their existing electrons. Thus they will share their electrons, and they will come closer.

Thats why carbon bonds with 4 hydrogens(H) and forms Methane(CH4).These type of compuds are called molecular compunds.

Usually Covalent bonds are less strong than ionic ones.

I hope you liked the answer. Please vote it as best answer(I took much time on this...so please !!).
