Molecular weight - Histones vs Protamines. is one higher or are they more or less the same?

  1. From what I can gather, they are similar in molecular weight. My reason for thinking this is from what I read in wikipedia...

    "Protamines are small, arginine-rich, nuclear proteins that replace histones late in the haploid phase of spermatogenesis and are believed essential for sperm head condensation and DNA stabilization".
