Alicia Molik has secured at least 140 ranking points by reaching the fourth round at Indian Wells – and there are more on offer should the Australian win her next match against Zheng Jie. Will the world No. 138 be ranked inside the top 100 after this tournament?

By my calculations, Molik will take her total ranking points to 582 if she loses her fourth round match, which will leave her knocking on the door of the top 100, but not inside it. Obviously it depends on the points other players pick up or lose but current world No. 100 Katie O’Brien has 667 ranking points at present so Molik won’t quite make it if she loses to Zheng. It’s a different story though if the former top 10 player reaches the quarters and picks up 250 ranking points for her efforts.
