Molinari brothers and Matteo Manassero set their sight on BMW PGA Championship – European Tour News
The three emerging stars from Italy will once again be on the field in the BMW PGA Championship. The tournament will be held in Surrey from May 26. All these three players have already shown their class and ability in the tournaments. Winning Ryder Cup team members Edoardo Molinari, Francesco Molinari and the young sensation, Matteo Manassero, will battle it out for winning the championship.
Italy is a proud nation now, as they have produced two great players from their country. Both these Molinari brothers also helped their European Team last year to win the Ryder Cup. They also have a total of three victories between them in last year. Whereas, Matteo continues to break more records as he entered the top-50 ranking by winning the Maybank Malaysian Open.
Now, the 18-year-old won his second European Tour event of Malaysian Open. He also celebrated his 18th birthday and presented himself with a great gift by winning his second European Tour event of his career. He then went on to become the youngest player to have won the Malaysian Open at a tender age of just 17 years.
Manassero enjoyed his last outing in Malaysia. The field was a star-studded one as he played against the best in Europe. The Masters Champion, Charl Schwartzel, was also participating in the event along with his countryman Louis Oosthuizen. The teenager did not wary of the field and players around him. He carved his way to the top of the leader board after the final day in Malaysia.
Manassero turned professional last year in May. Within a time span of just one year, he already has won two European Tour titles. He has also redefined history by competing in many tournaments also. Last year, Manassero made a debut appearance in the BMW PGA Championship. He was thoroughly impressive and played promising golf. He finished tied for the 17th spot last year.
Manassero in his recent interview said, “It would be a great honour to follow Constantino as the second Italian to win the BMW PGA Championship. I was only three when he won so I don’t remember it, but I have seen his victory on video and know how important it was.”
The youngster has already admitted that the Molinari brothers have helped him improve his game. Molinari brothers are like an example for the youngster as they are among the top-30 in world rankings.
Edoardo won two times on the European circuit last year. He will be hoping to add another one to his credit by winning the BMW PGA Championship. This event will be played at the Wentworth Club. He finished tied for the 17th place last year and will be hoping to improve his record this year.
As for Francesco, he is ranked at 19th in the world golf rankings. Last season, he only won the HSBC Championship by one stroke over Lee Westwood. The Italian is confident that his performance will be above par in the four day-event in Surrey. All these three players will be carrying the Italian flag in this four-day event.
