have to have your gall bladder removed? My doctor told me that it is common for women who have a had a baby within 1-2 yrs. to have problems w/ gall stones and their gall bladder, I found out Fri. that I need to have mine removed. I was hoping to hear from people about their experiences with gall bladder surgery.

Thank You :)

  1. had mine removed WHILE i was 28weeks preggie, and i almost went into labor, but i didn't ,and afterwards i had no pain at all!!!!!!!!!!

  2. I've never heard of that nor have I known anyone who has had a gall bladder removed (aside from my 93 year old grandmother).

Especially nothing to do with pregnancy.

  3. I have never, ever heard of that, and myself and nearly all my friends had more than one baby within two years.

I believe my mother went through that a few years ago...but she was in her late 40's or early 50's, and it had nothing to do with pregnancy.

I think I would get a second opinion.

  4. No, I have never heard of this.  I have a 3 year old and TTC #2.  This is all new to me.  I pray that your surgery goes well.

  5. I have a 2 year old, as do many of my girlfriends and I have never heard of that. I could be wrong but its news to me. Good luck in your surgery.

  6. I had to have mine out when I was only 19 years old!  I had not been pregnant yet - I just had horrible gall stones.  It was such a relief to have the surgery.  I had been really sick for about 6 months, since I was so young, it took a long time for them to realize that it could be gallstones.  Once diagnosed, I had surgery a week later.  The recovery was quick, even though I had complications from the anesthesia.

My dad, on the other hand, waited for a year after his diagnosis to have the surgery.  While procrastinating, he had several attacks that forced him into the hospital, and started to suffer from liver failure!  By the time he had the surgery, his gall bladder was so diseased that they could not use the minimally invasive surgery.  He now has a 12 inch scar across his abdomen.
