I was talking to my mom on the phone and we began to argue for about 2-3 minutes--> she was using a headset while talking

she then hung up on me twice .

five-10 minutes later she calls back saying she hit a car and it was my fault because she was so angry.

is it my fault?

  1. and who was driving.... really you only had a small part in it she was the one who was driving

  2. she should have never been on the phone

  3. I suspect/hope that she was only saying that in the heat of the moment. Try not to take it to heart unless she repeats it to you in a serious tone and calmer moment. As has been said, although the argument contributed to her lack of concentration, she was driving and ought not to have been talking to you anyway. If it had happened with you sat beside her in the car, your culpability might arguably have been greater. Hope that helps.

  4. She is looking at it like if you had not ot her upset, she wouldn't have done it.  It is obviously not your fault she hit the other car.  You were not driving.

  5. Honey, dont worry. Its not your fault at all. She hung up on you then she got into the accident. You werent driving so how could it be your fault? She was just angry

  6. No.

    She was the one driving.

    Not you.

Cops will give her the ticket - not you.

  7. It is her fault because, if she could not drive safely when angry with you, she should not have taken or made the second call after hanging up on you the first time.

However, when you are on the phone with someone who is driving and they hang up on you, do not call back, at least until they have time to get where they are going.

  8. No.

Sounds like your mom needs to take responsibility.

  9. no because SHE  hit the car..

  10. No, it is not your fault that she became angry and was involved in an accident.  She should have pulled over and calmed down if her anger was so intense to cause her to be involved in an accident.  Just how were you legally liable for the damage SHE caused to her vehicle and another.

  11. Of course not.  You were sitting at home, mom was driving.  She hit the car, her fault, not yours.  You may have contributed to her anger, but if she was angry enough that she shouldn't have been driving, she should have parked, gone for a walk, something before driving further.

    Again, not your fault.
