Mom Won't let 13 year old girl wear spaghetti strap dresses or tank tops?

Question

My mom won't let me wear spaghetti strap dresses to formal dances, or tank tops to school. A lot of other girls at my school do. And for my 8th grade graduation i really want to wear at spaghetti strap dress. Last years graduates even had strapless dresses and they were 13. Plus she hates when i wear tank tops that are 1 in thick. But I Do Respect Her Decision. She says it is to Inappropriate and is to revealing of my shoulders. Do you think its to inappropriate?

I don't think so at all! Most dresses have spaghetti straps! I was allowed to wear them since I was born! If your mom still thinks you're being unresonable, then compromise, and try wearing a cute bolero on top of your grad dress. Best of luck!

personaly i think its fine i am a girl and i can  where those kinds of things and no i dont think its innapropriate i mean like whats the harm! and what kind of guy gets turned on by shoulders like seriously! but i thikn its great that you respect your mothers opinion

Your mom is looking out for you because they're LOTS of pedophiles, perverts, rapists and bad people in this world. She just doesn't want you to become a statistic.

When you wear spaghetti straps, strapless, or low cut tops the direction of people's eyes shift and go down to your b*****s. Even if you have any or not.

I wouldn't let my sister wear cleavage tops, and wouldn't until a few months ago. But, she's almost 18.

{We grew up without our mom, and I had to step in}.

Listen to your mom because she knows the dangers out there.

What you could do is wear a spagetti strap dress and a shawl over it.

My mom used to do that but talk to her say that ok when can i start to wear them and nigosiate with her.

i've been wearing tank tops/spaghetti straps almost my whole life!! there's nothing wrong with it as long as it fits properly, and isn't too low cut! i don't see any problem with showing off shoulders!  to my 8th grade graduation i wore a strapless dress and it looked amazing! my grandma actually bought the dress for me! and my other grandma said it was "gorgeous" on me! my mom loved it too! even one of my teachers said i looked really pretty! there's nothing wrong with it!

I dont think straps/strapless should matter.

I think the cute of the shirt or dress is the only thing that should. I could see you not letting you wear tanks because they are too low cut. But I agree with you, it's pretty unfair to not let you wear strapless.

No not at all. I think it is perfectly fine to wear straps. When I was ten I wore strapless. Not fair!
