Mom and Dads--Your DUH! moment of the weekend?

Okay, so Bradley's father and I were both trying to get a shoe on the little guy Saturday so we could go to the store. Bradley has decided that he does not want to sit still for a diaper change or to have his shoes put on. If he sees you grab a diaper or his shoes he'll run, if you sit him down to attempt to put either of these two things on him he has a full blown fit. So, after a mom/dad tag team we succeeded in getting shoes on the little guy and getting him in the car, it was pouring down rain so we ran into the store and I let him down to walk. We didn't get but maybe three steps in the store and I noticed he was walking funny. Like a duck. Seems we had put the shoes on the wrong feet! DUH!! So, Bradley and I had the battle of the shoes again, in the store, on the floor, in front of everyone. Oh, the joy. How about you? Any duh! moments this weekend?

  1. this week? you mean in the last 5 minutes? let's see....saturday i spent 20 minutes on the phone with whole foods (husband's cell phone) because i was convinced i had lost my phone there (i have to hide it from ruby). it was in my jacket pocket the whole time. and i was wearing the jacket. yesterday i wore my leggings backwards all day -- not a big deal, but you'd think i'd figure out quickly why they felt so tight in back. the day has only just begun here on the west coast, so...so far, so good.

  2. haha i can so picture my husband and i doing that exact same thing.

i have recently discovered that i can no longer rely on my husband getting  my 6 month old dressed. the other day, my husband decided to let me sleep in as it was my birthday. he made breakfeast and he took care of Gracie for me. So when i finally decided to get out of bed, i walk downstairs to see my 6 month old daughter, in her high chair, with clothes on that totally dont match, different pair of sock, shirts and shorts all on either backward or inside out. it was actually pretty funny and of course i had to take tons of pictures.

  3. Hilarious!!!!

Johnny has decided he doesn't really like baby food anymore, he wants big boy table food now.

Soooo... I had bought some canned pears (no sugar added, I must add, lol) and I poured them out into a bowl and was sitting there at the table with Johnny.  I took one of the pear halves out of the bowl to cut up for him and was really concentrating for some reason.... I wasn't paying really good attention to what Johnny was doing until I heard him chewing on something..... I looked and he had grabbed one of the pear halves out of the bowl I had poured them in and was just chomping away on it!!!!  I said "Johnny!  What are you doing???" and he looked at me, cracked up laughing and kept on eating.

    LOL

  4. Well, we have been TTC, and I found out this weekend I was pregnant.  I was excited.  A couple of hours later I said was talking to Emma and I called her mommy's baby like I do a lot.  I started crying because I realized she will no longer be "the baby"  I started thinking, am I making her grow up to fast?  My husband laughed.  It must be the hormones.

  5. I am a campaign volunteer for a candidate for Governor for our state and we had the oppurtunity to be in a parade on Friday in support of him. I was very excited, I color coordinated the kids in the campaign's colors, bought three big bags of candy for them to throw, I thought we were set! I got halfway to the meeting place and realized I forgot the stroller. It was too late to turn around so I stupidly, yes- stupidly, thought the kids would be ok walking and continued on. I did not realize that we would be keeping pace with horses! My 4 year old did awesome. She was so happy giving out candy to kids, and the elderly too- they got such a kick out of that. My 2 year old though, the poor little guy! I carried him (and the basket of candy), had him ride piggy-back and up on my shoulders until my poor pregnant body couldn't keep the pace with the rest of the parade any more. My children had almost jogged about 2+ miles before I discreetly moved us to the sidewalk and out of the parade. Even then we still had to walk over a mile back to our car, at least we were able to keep our own, very slow, pace. That was my DUH! moment of the weekend.

  6. LOL! I have been there many times when my kids were younger. Nope, sorry, I haven't had any DUH!'s this past weekend, though I have had many over the yrs.

  7. Yeah.  When we went to the local 4th of July festival.  I thought it would be good for Zachary (2 1/2) to walk around with us instead of being cooped up in a stroller.  The place was soooo crowded and not only did he not want to walk with us, he wanted to run in the opposite direction.  I spent my day chasing him and watching him constantly.  Then my sister said, "You should've seen that coming.  Two year olds will run."  Duh.
