Mom disapproves of short skirts

I'm in the same position.  I just decided to deal with it until i'm 18.  there's plenty of cute skirts that are knee length.  Of course, I'd like to wear a denim mini again...But I can just wait until I'm 18 for that I guess

No not to dress like a s***k. I mean cmon. Too short? She is your mom she doesnt want guys seeing your private areas or your butt when you bend over. Shorts are different.

I know how you feel, but legally she has complete control over you until you are 18. Try going to a dance or gymnastics store and buy some short shorts that are like leggings to put under your skirt so that you will have some coverage and that your mom might reconsider. It is like wearing a cheerleading skirt so it is not that bad.

Technically no, not until you are 18 and are a legal adult. Until then, your parent is your guardian.

She is only being cautious because she doesn't want her vulnerable teenage daughter's goods hanging out below her hemline. When you are a parent, you will completely understand.

Try talking to your mom about the problem and work it out together.  Ask her what a reasonable length would be.  Figure out an answer together!  Your mom may be worried sick that some stupid guy is going to take advantage of you so she wants to keep you safe.  That's what moms do!  Someday you'll be a mother too and you'll get to say what your child can and can't wear!

You're 17. You've been physically an adult these three years at least. Do you have a job? Are you spending your own money to put your own skirts on your own body? Then yes, it's your call.

You can't demand how she spends her money - that wouldn't be fair to her, after all - but you can absolutely decide how you spend your own.  Your style is yours to decide. You're not a doll for her to dress however she wishes, you're a person with your own will.

Please kindly ignore everyone who harps about that magical age of 18. The number of seconds in your life does not make the gods whack you with the smart stick at midnight on your birthday - you're every bit as much a person now as you will be in a few month, and this is a country where we're all CREATED equal. Not really, you're still not an adult and if you are still living in her home, and she still supports you for the most part then you still have to live by her rules...sorry.

Must be showing too much skin or maybe some *** if you will for her to disapprove of it. It is her call because you are still in her care. If you were on your own living elsewhere as an adult then you can do whatever the heck you want. For now you'll have to abide by her rules until you are out of her house.

my mom does too. and it can be really frustrating. to make her happy...wear spandex underneath the skirt. if she disapproves for other reasons then just listen to her.
