Mom doesn't let me pluck my eyebrows or wear makeup!!??

Question

im 14 years old and my mom doesnt think i should get my eyebrows plucked or wear makeup like mascara and eyeliner. i think im old enough and i also get good grades in school and she still says "no, you are too young!!". plus she thinks thats if she lets me ill start getting boyfriends,which by the way she doesnt let me have a boyfriend either, involves in drugs and getting into trouble. how can i convince her to atleast get my bushy eyebrows done?

First of all... I think your mom has issues because boyfriends don't equal drugs or everyone in the world would be on drugs right now. Even if she doesn't want your wearing eyeliner and mascara, you should be able to pluck your eyebrows! I don't normally suggest going behind a parents back but if she won't let you get your eyebrows done just do it yourself with some tweezers. Don't just start plucking away though, there are techniques. If you have super bushy eyebrows like mine were, before you pluck them you should trim them. Take little pair of nail scissors like these: http://www.dkimages.com/discover/preview... and an eyebrow brush like this: http://www.cosmeticscubed.com.au/images/... using the bushy side. Also if you have access to a white eyeliner pencil that would be ideal. You can get these at any drug store or walmart.

Brush the eyebrow hairs straight up and trim the hairs that stick up past the rest of your eyebrows. Do the same pointing straight down.

You will make several marks to know how to shape your eyebrows. Hold the white eyeliner straight up and down where it goes from the side of your nose up to your eyebrow. This is where the inside of your eyebrow should start. If you have hairs past there in between your eyebrows, you'll need to pluck those so mark that. Do it on the other side.

Then hold the eyeliner pencil in the middle of your eye and find your arch. I find it by lifting my eyebrows and I have a sharp point where my arch is, other people may not. It should be about where your pupil is when you are looking forward. Mark the arch. Do it on the other side.

Then to know where your eyebrow should end you can take the pencil at an angle and place it so it touches the side of your nose and the outer corner of your eye. Then where the pencil meets your eyebrows is where it should end. Mark the end. Do it on the other side. Then when you have.

The just connect the dots in the eyebrow shape. It should be the largest in the middle and come to a point at the ends. You don't want to make common mistakes like having a gap right after the front, you want it to be a continuous, gradual change with no sharp edges.

Then pluck everything outside of the white outline.

Wash off the eyeliner.

Make any additional plucks necessary to make them look finished. Just remember they aren't going to be identical, you want them similar but don't try to make them look exactly the same or they will end up overplucked and messed up. They are like sisters, not twins.

Again, if your mom's only reason to not let you puck your eyebrows because then you'll get a boyfriend and start doing drugs... that's really crazy. But if she won't let you for religious reasons (I had some friends where it was against their religion) don't do it. I can't help you with the makeup though, I think if she doesn't want you to wear it yet there isn't much you can do.

just tell her that ur embarased(thats if u are) of ur eyebrows and that could you at least get just them done.try to sweet talk your way into letting her get them done..say your not trying to get attention of any boys(even if you are), you just dont like how your eyebrows look

say you feel really self concious going around with bushy eye browns and start crying. also you could put on mascarra when you get to school and take it off befor you go home. or just pluck your own eye brows..

Start off with clear mascara ( it does just as much as black just doesn't look darker) and a sheer powder. Tell your mom it makes you feel bad about your eyebrows and ask nicely. She is more likely to let you get your eyebrows done if you ask and don't whine.

Maybe you could explain to her that your eyebrows make you embarrassed or make you feel uncomfortable.  If she knows that you truly feel troubled about them, she may lighten up and agree.  Even plucking stray hairs can make a big difference!

For make-up, ask her about neutral colors.  Brown eyeshadow and brown eyeliner still make a statement without being too bold, and there are still many shades of browns to choose from.  

Ask during a calm time, and be polite and use a soft voice. If your mom still says no, don't be upset. She's only trying to protect you.

Wow, no offense, but your mother sounds...er, controlling.

If you can't talk her into it, then I'd go out by myself or with a friend's family shopping. Then you can use your own money and go get your eyebrows done and buy all your makeup acessories. What can your mom do, make you grow your eyebrows back?

If it were me, I'd go behind my mother's back. You might get yelled at, but it'd be for the best.

ok i have some of the sam problem well i barely have eyebrows to pluck so i don't do that but makeup honestly i think my mom should let me wear although she doesn't I'm 12 so your obviously older than me and according what i know about u i think u should be aloud 2 wear makeup my mom thinks I'm 2 young 2 wear it not because of boyfriends though she d=sent mind me having one she thinks I'm 2 young I'm not a s**t I'm pretty responsible some what and drug that's not a problem with me I'm not stupid 2 s***w up my life like that and i don't think anyone should but hey i cant control the world try proving to ur mom although it didn't work 4 me that ur responsible ur also older than me i think when I'm 14 i'll be wearing makeup or hopefully at 13 when I'm a teenager but still do ur friend wear it tell her that put on makeup and show her that ur not going 2 look like a s**t don't wear 2 much make it look like ur barely wearing nay at all that eventually start 2 wear just a LITTLE!!! more makeup and for  eyeliner don't put on to much mascara don't make ur eyes stand out 2 much then that will just be another reason 4 ur mom to not let u wear makeup I'm sorry that this was so long but i hope i helped

i started getting my eyebrows done in 5th grade, it is just something that has to be done. you are 14 years old and she just has to understand that you are getting older and are growing up.

lol i know what you mean, I'm 14 & I kinda know where you're coming from. I do wear make-up but only a limited amount. I have to wear barely any mascara and noooo eye liner. Maybe you can at least look up some good ways of plucking your eyebrows yourself. And as for the make-up, ask if your mom will let you wear a...... limited amount. Explain to her you're getting older.
