Mom gerbil ignoring her babies ?

My little sister just bought a gerbil from the pet store about two weeks ago and this morning we woke up and there were two babies in the corner of the cage. We don't have the father, only the mom. But she seems to just be ignoring them. She is just running around her cage trying to dig out. Now she is just sleeping. What should I do ? Are the babies going to die ?

If she doesn't start taking care of the babies soon, you are going to have to feed them yourself.

Go and buy some KMR (Kitten Milk Replacement) from the store and an eye dropper and you will have to feed them through that.  Also, you will have to help them use the potty by rubbing their genitals with a warm towel.
