Mom of three scared to take Zanaflex?

I got prescribed Zanaflex for back pain and I am scared to take them. My hubby is a pilot and is gone for the weekend and I need to care for our 3 boys. Does anyone have any experience taking this med? Will it knock me out? Should I just take it at night?

This medicine made me very drowsy and disoriented. I am not one to over-react to the effects of medicine - please be very careful in taking this medicine. Unless you have someone to help with your kids or you can take it over night - think it over! Please!

I felt absolutely drunken. I put this on the list of drugs I have allergies too, because the experience was so unpleasant and almost dangerous. I made the mistake of driving and the effects kicked in while I was out and I had to work really hard to get home safely. It scared me so much.

It would depend on the milligrams you  where perscribed, and how medicine effects you.  I can take 8mg of it and not have any noticable effect but my dh takes 2 mg and he feels stoned and is staggering into the wall, darvacets have the same effect on him and tylenol works better on me then darvacet.  go figure it all depends on the person.  I would try and take it after the children go to bed though.  The one thing I noticed with it, is I get short with the kids, so I only take it at night after I put them to bed and I have 10 hours or so to get it out of my system.
