Mom overprotective?????

is my mom overprotective? she monitors my brothers AIM chats and she also checks what hes been on. its a long story WHY she does this, because one time his friend and him were talking and she swore at them and she didnt like it... and her mom watches her computer. so her mom told my mom and now she monitors it. dont you think its an invasion of privacy??? hes 16, and has his own life. its not like hes watching any wrong videos or any content online. but please comment!!!!

yeah thats a TOTAL invasion of privacy. she needs to let your bro grow up. he'll be a legal adult in 2 years! he will be going off to college and living on his own and if shes too overprotective now how is he gonna take care himself when he's on his own?

Unfortunately at 16 you dont have your own life. Not until you are 18 and out of your parents house do you have your own life....

Did he buy his computer with his own money??? Or did your parents? Remember its your parents house and your parents rules....does it suck? Yep, but when your parents were growing up they didnt have all the technology that there is today....and there a majorly disgusting perverts on the internet..she is just doing her job as a GOOD parent

Caity-girl, have you seen the MSNBC series of programs that caught the net predators on camera?  Let me tell you something about it in case you haven't seen them.  Online chat area, profiles available to show age, olde  prson starts innicently talking to 'underagekid', predator gets home/phone/ numbers.  Older person starts ssuggesting meeting whent the PAW's are clear (parents are watching).  'kid' meet predator, predator does things that are graphic.  bad  bad felings later... be thankful your parents give a d**n about your safety, not like a lot ofhte horror stories we se here.  be thankful, not mad

I don't blame her... who wants there sons talking about s*x and cursing over AIM to their friends. She just needs to trust him, and MAYBE she will stop.
