Well my son who is 10 months old just got his first cold...i'm pretty sure it's related to his teething. Well I want to know how to clean all of his toys because he had them in his mouth while he was sick and I don't want him getting those germs again. Should I spray them with disinfectant or soak them in bleach..I don't want him to get sick from all that bleach and what not...tips please? Thank you in advance!

  1. Vinegar and lemon juice are natural cleansers, degreasers, and disinfectants.  Most of the time you can mix one part water with one part vinegar to soak and wash his toys.  You can also spray it on his stuffed toys to help "clean" their fur.   If his hard toys are really gross you can soak them in vinegar, give them a tooth brush scrubbing, and rinse them.

You can also just use a sink full of dishsoapy water.  It's good enough to clean your dishes, so it's good enough to clean his toys too.

  2. I would just do warm water and soap. Buy a bottle brush to scrub them with.  The germs won't make him sick again though --- once he gets over his illness he'll already have immunity from those germs.

  3. Any type of fabric toys can be washed in the washing machine, and will be cleaned properly. I would use an organic safe disinfectant to clean the other toys and things. Look in the baby aisle at the store, there are safe products you can purchase made specifically for this.

  4. wipe them with baby wipes or try using that spray that has not been out for long ...i am not sure but i think that it is clorox any where ....

  5. I don't think you need to worry.  He already has those germs in his system and he is working at fighting them off.  Once he does he will be immune.  Unless you think it is bacteria related, just leave it be.

  6. I used to just soak my kids toys in a tiny bit of disinfectant and boiling hot water. Leave it over night, and the next day I would then rinse them very well. Boiling hot water on its own though will do the trick.

  7. put them in the sink with soak and water then pour boiling water over them to sanitize so he wont get sick from disinfectant or bleach

  8. I would not recommend using sanitizing spray on anything a baby is likely to put in their mouth.  If your son has a runny nose from teething it is not the same as a cold and not likely to be a big concern.  However, there are several ways you can clean the toys.  The dishwasher is a great way to disinfect those plastic toys.  You can put them in a dishwasher basket that you use for bottle parts.  You can place fabric toys and stuffed animals in the washing machine.  I usually put them in a pillow case and tie it in a knot.  When the load is done I just hang them up since a lot of toys like that don't fare so well in the dryer.  You can also make your own bleach water solution by combining 1/4 cup bleach with one gallon of water.  Be sure that the toys are dry before your son gets them back.  This way you know the bleach has evaporated and is safe for your son.
