Moms, has this weird phenomenon every happened to you?

After a lot of debate and worry, I opted to get my daughter vaccinated yesterday. As expected she cried a bit, ran a low fever and was a bit fussy. when I got her home from the doctor's office, I began feeling really crappy. I was achy, sore, my neck was stiff and I felt very warm. my husband made me go lie down. I didn't want to eat any dinner. He asked me what was wrong and I was like "honestly, I feel like I just got a flu shot!" Have any other moms ever experienced this feeling of taking on your child's pain, or somehow feeling and knowing what is happening to them? I have never had that happen in my life, and I guess it could have been a coincidence but today I feel fine, it was just for the night! Totally weird...

  1. no

  2. So you think you were having sympathy pains?  It might have been co-incidental or then again not.

I have had to endure some gruesome experiences with my kids in hospital, the worst being when my 11 year old had to have his first chemo dose for lymphoma.  They said it was done on an outpatient basis, and I said oh no....there is no way you are injecting that poison into my son and sending him home.  I can't deal with that.

That was the most horrible night of my life and I endured it alone there, never once closing my eyes, like all the other days and nights in hospital with my kids, always alone.  You really get to understand that old saying 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger', let me tell you.

When you love your kids, their pain is your pain.  You may not feel it the way they are experiencing it, but emotionally it's just as painful and possibly more.  Only when you become a mother, and one who truly loves her children more than you love yourself, can you really understand that!!

There are times I wonder how I've managed to keep my sanity frankly.

So, get ready, it's only just beginning.  You are going to have to develop some tough skin there.  Motherhood is a long journey.

  3. I've never had that happen.  Kudos to you for having your daughter vaccinated!  It's the least we can do to protect them against disease.  Congratulations!

  4. No, but it sounds like you caught a quick bug.
