Question:

Moms, what did/do you do to shape up/slim down (beside breastfeeding) that can be done with your baby?

I currently weight less than before I got prego and I still wear the same size, but somehow the mirror tells me I look bigger LOL (it may have to do with the cup size and weight-lifter's arms).

So, how did/do you shape up?

Would chasing the kid around (when he's able to run in a few months) be a good sport?

  1. I walk my son up and down the street in a stoller. Oh and no, chasing after your kid will not help you slim down. Take it from me, I have an almost two year old that has been litarally 100 miles an hour since 9 months old and haven't been able to lose a pound until after I started exercising regularly.

  2. most def running around after your baby is proper exercise and it can go on for a while!! my son is so energetic and sometimes i just need a break!

you could weigh less because you have lost some muscle. muscle weighs more than fat tissue so that might be why you look bigger but weigh less. i was the same until i started doing a bit of workout. it's like most of my muscle mass disappeared while i was pregnant.

my baby is quite heavy (9 lbs 5 at birth and 28 lbs at 14 months) so i've been getting quite strong from holding and lifting him. i try to work out at curves once or twice a week and go for a brisk walk/jog once a week to keep in shape. i also go swimming with my son about once a week and although i don't do much swimming, just holding him while getting changed and later in the water is plenty of exercise.

and lets not forget all the walks out with the buggy. we go out atleast once a day but usually twice.

  3. Yup chasing a toddler around the park is working for me.

Ironically I am down two pant sizes but weigh the same.  Kind of the opposite of you.

PS by "park" I mean 3-4 times a week for 3-4 hours.  Not a half an hour once in awhile.  And I often get dragged up and down the slide.  Not to mention lately I can't put the baby down at all because he eats sand (not just a little, he shoves his whole face in and eats as much as he can)

  4. you could sign up for mommy and me yoga or classes or just get a dvd or something...if you can find them around your area that would be  a good idea

  5. near my house there is a yoga shop and they have mama and baby yoga and that helped me get my muscle tone back and i take my 8 month old son and go for a 3 mile walk/jog 5 days a week and breastfeeding.

  6. I went out and bought a few exersise dvds so i didn't get bored with the same one I made sure they were modern dance ones Not boreing old lady ones!!! so while my baby slept i did these! I also  walked as many places as i could instead of using the car!!!
