I have an 11month old (almost 12 mnths). She gets tired around 7pm. I lay with her in my bed , if I put her straight in the crib she goes crazy, until she falls asleep then, I put her in her crib and slowly walk out. An hour later, if I am lucky LOL, she wakes up screamin bloody murder. I run up and pick her up she falls asleep I put her back. Later...same thing, screaming and crying. This happens over and over.

I tried to just sit by her crib to give her emotional support while I kept placing her back down to sleep but she wont have it. One time she cried so hard and long when I finally picked her up she had that after crying breathing thing going on even after she fell asleep. I felt horrible!

I don't know what to do. I don't want her to feel abandoned this wouldn't be good for her.

  1. you don't need to go running to her all the time, she is testing you out. Just let her lay there and cry her self to sleep, in may be nerve wrecking but once she figures that your not going to come and cuddle with her every time she cries then she will stop and be able to sleep with out you being around her all the time.

  2. Co sleep!  Problem solved.

  3. let me just say... i do the same thing with my now 17 month old..... he sleeps with me every night and if his hand isnt touching my hair, he will scream... and scream, and scream.........   STOP it now... she will be okay if you dont go running to her.Do you really want to end up like me...... I don' t think so...... lol

  4. Quit running to her everytime she throws a tantrum.  You are teaching her that all she has to do is throw a fit and then you come running. Let her cry it out.  Put her in her crib for bedtime, say goodnight, give her her blanky or whatever and leave the room, close the door and let her cry it out.  After a night or two she will get the idea that you are not going to come running.  And when she wakes up in the middle of the night, get up give her her sippy of water  and a blanket or whatever, lay her down and leave again and let her cry it out.  Crying will not kill her or destroy her.  She will wake up in the morning and be just as happy to see you as any other day.
