Moms! What is the worst thing and the best thing you remember about the delivery of your children?

For me, my first born surprised me. I had 2 more days to work. I just saw the MD that afternoon, and it was two weeks early. So, I "decided" I wasn't in labor. I woke my husband and asked him to take me to the hospital "to find out" why I had such cramps. Now, we went to the classes but I decided it wasn't time! The nurse told me I was FULLY DIALATED! And off to the delivery room I went. Normal delivery; healthy boy. Yay!

My second boy was 2 weeks LATE! I was huge! So, off to the delivery room again. Six hours later, they finally decided I needed an emergency C-sec. It was terrible. I almost died from a blood disorder; got 8 units of blood. ICU for 3 days. My son was having seizures that lasted 11 hours before getting them under control. He had to be resuscitated. We were in for 9 days. He has mild cerebral palsy, although as an adult, you can hardly notice it. It was really awful. Years of PT and OT for him. I would've gone nuts had I not loved him so much!

  1. i was in denial about being in labor so i went to school anyway. my mom, aunt and husband kept telling me to go to the hospital. so i did. i was 6cm, so they sent me to l&d. i was there for 3 hours and met my beautiful boy. by the time i asked for something for the pain the doctor basically laughed at me. so i got nothing. and i'm now planning to have our next at home it was not that bad. i can't wait to be prego again

  2. I hated my 3rd delivery-- I was induced, and was sitting there waiting for 12 hours! My last delivery was only 4 hours.

  3. Best thing:  seeing her face and hearing her voice (even though she was , of course, crying); and the doctor telling me that she was healthy.

Worst thing: 40 hours of labor, 3 hours of pushing and finally a C-section!

  4. I remember going in for my weekly checkup and they always checked my urine.  Well I got home and a few hours later I got a phone call saying that I needed to goto the hospital and say that my doctor was admitting me, because I had protein in my urine.  Which is the first sign of toximia (preclampsia).  I also kept a high blood pressure.  I was in the hospital on complete bed rest for 2 weeks!  That sucked sooooo bad.

Everyday they had to chek my urine to make sure that my protein hadn't gotten that high.  On january 31st my doctor came in and told me that they were going to induce my labor because my protein was getting at a harmful level for me and my son.

The next day when I woke up I remember being in horrible pain.  I didn't have an epidural, but I did have some IV meds.  The nurse failed to tell me that I could have my meds every hour, so I sat in the hospital bed in this horrible cramping pain for 3 hours, and then when she came in she was like, "Oh you've been such a trooper, not asking for any meds."  I was so pissed.

I didn't dialate any that day, so again I was induced that night, and was in labor again that next day.  In the middle of the day one of the mid-wifes came in to check my cervix, and I was crying because it hurt so bad, and she sat up and looked at me and told me," Oh now it can't hurt that bad."  Oh man did I wanna knock the p**s out of her.  I did tell her to get the F out of my room and not to come back.

I was induced again one more night, and I had only dialated 1/2 a cenimeter, so they decided to schedule a c-section.  The worst part about that was the needle going into my back, my arms being strapped down at my sides, and the weird feeling in my belly.

You are only supposed to lose 2 units of blood and I lost 5 units.  I almost had to had a blood tranfusion.  My son was 5 weeks early and he only weighed 4 pounds so he was rushed to the NICU.  He couldn't breathe on his own because his lungs wern't fully developed.  He spent 2 weeks in the NICU before he got to go home, and the worst part about that was there were only certain times during the day that you were allowed to go see your child.

He didn't know when he was hungry so I had to wake up every 2 hours and feed him 20cc's of formula.  Also were I had lost so much blood my immune system was very low.  I got brochitis for like 2 weeks, after that I had strep throat, and then I had to get my wisdom teeth pulled out, not to mention the horrible pain from that d**n c-section!

Since he was suseptable to the RSV disease he wasn't allowed to be around me.  So for like 2 months of his life he had to stay with his grandparents and my husband.

Well, hope I didn't write too much, LOL.
