i wanna get a winter coat online (like ebay or something) for my daughter since i saw a lot of cute winter coats but the only thing that confused me is the size she will be18 months this november and on her 12 months checked up she weighed 24 pounds and 3 ounces and 33 inches long. the question is what size do i have to get? a 24 months or 2t?

your answers would be much appreciated. thank you in advance.

  1. The difference between a 2t and a 24 months is the 2t is a little longer. In most cases you can look at the tags at the store with the price on them and it will give you a height/weight guideline for that size, and then you can get one somewhere else. Also keep in mind the bulkier the coat the harder it will be to put her in the car seat so sizing up so you can use it again next year might not be worth the hassle.

  2. 24 months and 2t are pretty much the same size.  It also depends on the manufacture. 2t is longer usually and maybe slightly wider but not by much.  I would go with the 2t.  You may have to wash it and there for it could shrink a lil plus your looking at about using it for about 5-6 months depending on where you live.

  3. I would go with the 24 month one. She probably isn't going to gain that much weight between now and then. My pediatrician said that gaining about 4 lbs per year is normal after their 1st birthday or so. The 2T may be too long in the arms.

  4. I would go for a 2T. I have two girls, 3 and 4, and I have done this many times- ordering or buying out of season and guessing sizes. You always want to go a tiny bit bigger, especially with a coat because you know it will need to fit over sweatshirts, etc...it will give her some room to breath and also room to grow. Better to be too big than too small and a 2T sounds perfect for her size.

  5. I would go for the 2 T.  I always go large, she would have  grown by the time winter gets here.

  6. I would go with a 3T.  The girls sizes run smaller than the boys.  My niece who is turning 3 in Sept.  wore a 2T last year, by February she needed a 3T (coat is Old Navy, and Land's end).  Last year when she turned two she was 34 inches and 27 lbs.  Kids this age will grow 3-5 inches in 1 year, and gain 3-5 lbs in one year.  Which means a pretty accurate estimate will be that she will be 26-28lbs and 34.5-35 inches tall in November.  I would be concerned that she may outgrow the 2T by february.  According to the Land's end size chart a 2T is 27-29lbs and 33-35" tall.  She will be this size in November.  By February the 3T says 36-38" tall and 30-33 lbs.  She will most likely be 36+ inches tall and close to 30lbs by February.  There isn't a whole lot of difference in size.  The 3T will be slightly longer in length and the arms.  The 24 months will definately be too small based on her size I would have thought that she was wearing this size at 12 months.

Also take into consideration the brand.  Some run smaller than others.

  7. I always buy bigger the 24 months would probably fit perfect but if you want it to last for a while I would get the 2t
