was just wondering. i have 4 month olds and i often wonder if they are aware of each other unless i encourage it. one of them often reaches out to catch the hand of the other when they are lying next to each other, and i often sit them across from each other so they can look at each other. and they do cry in sync sometimes. but when do they really start to interact? any stories?

  1. I have twin boys and they were pretty much aware of each other right from the start. They would fall asleep in their crib with ones head on the other shoulders. That was what helped the smaller of the two fall asleep. They would always move closer to each other when possible. Now that they are getting older they will play with each other and of course they have already started to wrestle.

Trust me, they know that the other one is there. They are also experiencing alot of other new things too.

  2. It must be great to have twins, two to play with. Well, there probably aware, because there aware you're there so they must know they have another brother/sister. I would say at 1, maybe 9 months they'd start to be able to interact, i.e play. At 2-3 they will play, they will probablly go through a stage of snatching and argueing, but they will love each other.

    Good luck for the future!

  3. Well not all twins are joined at the hip. Some are completely opposite to each other. At this age, they have been with one another for quite some time and are most likely used to each other. Nevertheless, they will be close in a way that not many people get.

I'm 18 now, my twin died in my mothers stomach but in a way, i know i am a twin and it's still close. If that makes sense.

Also, boys will be boys, wait until they get to the terrible two's! lol

  4. i have twins they are now 1 year old

they started interacrting with each other when they where about 1 month really! and maybe even before this, remember they where together in the womb so there quite aware of each other. its lovely when they start to actually play together though.

3 months - when we layed them down together they touched each other on the hand. its strange to see because you dont think they can do this but yes, quite early on.

  5. I have twins (boy and girl)

They interacted from the minute they could make gurgling noises. They used to sit there gurgling like they were having a conversation. But i too felt like they were oddly aware of each other from a young age.

Once they began to talk, one was more fluent and easy to understand than the other. If we couldnt understand him wed ask her to translate what he as saying for us. She was allways right even though he spoke gobildygook.

Around the age of 7. She was thinking of a train when suddenly he said "Can you hear that train noise?" when there wasnt a train station in miles.

Now all grown up she had been in a car crash, he had no way of knowing but suddenly started complaining of a shooting pain in his side. Then she came in and told us of the crash and how shed hurt her side.

    Things like this happen constantly.

    Its spooky stuff!

  6. I have twins that are almost three and they started interacting with each other very soon, like three to four weeks. They would lie close to each other in the crib with their heads touching, even when they started out apart.  Once they hit 1-2 months they would tap each others arms and they knew when the other twin wasn't there....it was cute to watch. When they hit six months old they really started going at it, laughing and playing with each other. Now my twins are beating the c**p out of each other. lol
