or any other milk, for that matter. what do you feed your baby to insure s/he gets enough calcium? i know all the foods that are high in calcium, but i am wondering if there are any toddler-friendly snacks i haven't thought of or any prepared (frozen) natural foods high in calcium. ruby hates yogurt, and she isn't big on dairy products in general. i never wated to give her cow's milk, really, but i tried to, and she hates it. figures. anyway...any good ideas?

  1. i used to give my son who was allergic to milk calcium-fortified orange juice.

would she eat yogurt if concealed inside a fruit smoothie? they taste more like whatever fruit is in there than yogurt, but you're still sneaking in the calcium

edit -- you don't say how old she is, but I assume she's over one if she's old enough for cow's milk to be an option in the first place.  when my son turned one and couldn't drink milk, our pediatrician recommended the calcium-fortified orange juice.

  2. Gerber makes toddler's snacks that are high in calcium.

Banana cookies are one of their products that have 10% calcium for 2 cookies.

EDIT: diluted OJ is great for toddlers (she's over 1 right?), my daughter loves OJ! They make OJ with added calcium, just as much as milk. Let her try it, if it's to acidy for her, try again in a few more months.

  3. Instant oatmeal has 165 mg of calcium per packet =) Get her some fun flavors! Even mix some fresh fruit into it, she'll love it. Also, broccoli and oranges are a good source too.
