Germany’s world number 36, Mona Barthel, did not face any difficulty in beating the 234th ranked player from Slovakia, Petra Rampre, in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 in the second round of the Bell Challenge in Quebec City,
Canada on Wednesday. Barthel needed just 48 minutes to crush her opponent in this one sided contest and went to the next stage.
Rampre was the first to move ahead, as she broke Barthel in the opening game and held her following serve to attain a 2-0 advantage. However, Barthel took complete control of the proceedings after that, inflicting three blows to
her opponent and grabbing six games in a row to clinch it 6-2.

In the second set, Barthel started from where she had left in the second, capturing opening five games to take a 5-0 lead. Rampre held her serve in the sixth to break the bagel and reduce the trail to 1-5 but that was all for her,
as Barthel closed it out 6-1.
The German player bombarded three aces and did not commit any double fault in the second set. The youngster won amazingly all the 12 points on her first serves but lost six of the 10 on the second ones. She fared extraordinarily
well on the first returns, as she secured seven of the 10 points on them but lost three of the four on the second replies. The German contender converted two of the three break points she received.
