  1. it's up to the subjects of a monarchy to change the government. no parliment can do that.

  2. I'm all for it lol xD I think it's really cool how there's queens, kings, princes, princesses, dukes, duchesses, earls, countesses, etc. ><" I'm really living in a fantasy land =] too many books and stuff xD but.. I really think it'll be cool to live in a monarchy. I mean I'm korean and I've been wishing since 5th grade that Korea would turn into a monarchy sometimes soon ._. Of course, I'm totally against the fact that peasants or w/e have to be poor and the enormous level difference between the high class and lower class like in the olden days. Hopefully if korea does ever go back to monarchy it won't be like it used to be xD wait.. monarchy is the one w/ queens and kings and stuff right o.o if not then just ignore this post lol xD

  3. It completely depends on who you have as king and queen.

  4. Constitutional Monarchy. I think the biggest purpose of the monarchy is to hold the nation together. It's sort of a tradition. It's something in the government that won't be like "Oh holy c**p! what happened?" Having a monarch to handle ceremonial things also gives the Prime Minister the time to effectively work. A constitutional monarchy gives people a voice in government, whilst also holding together the people of the nation and giving the Prime Minister (or whatever title the particular country has) more time to do the work he/she needs to.

  5. is a good try but not as good as democracy.

  6. i like monarchies, they resemble glory of ages past. i think its the best way to rule a country, take the chinese dynasty system. it will keep a country strong and able

  7. Each to their own, if the majority of people in a country want one they should have one, if they don't they shouldn't. Personally, I think the monarchy's great.

In the United Kingdom, the monarchy is a lot cheaper than a republic would be. 66p per person per year is a bargain. For that we get a link to a thousand years of history and a unifying national figure most countries are envious of. In practice, the Queen rules at the pleasure of her subjects.

There is, of course, an argument than the monarchy is undemocratic, but if there was a referendum on whether to keep the monarchy or not, the Queen would win easily. I have never heard a British republican call for such a referendum, they just want parliament to abolish the monarchy. If her popularity ever dropped, the MPs would move to get rid of her, but that won't happen. The Queen as an average approval rating of 75%, most politicians would kill to have ratings that high.

Having a non-political head of state can be very useful. For example, if a tyrannical Prime Minister even managed to get to power, the monarch would be the only one who could remove such a PM and call an election. This is what happened in Thailand after the 1981 coup, when the King stepped in to restore democracy. In a sense, the UK's unelected head of state is democracy's last line of defence.

  8. I am for it.It is a legitimate form of government.

I am from a democratically-elected government and can see that there are problems in all type governments. Too many people seem to think that all of their problems will be solved if they got rid of the monarchy.

  9. Against it ! Humanity's 900 years of the Dark Ages proves my point. Please check link below.
