Monchengladbach manager Lucien Favre warns against complacency in Koln tie
Borussia Monchengladbach manager Lucien Favre has warned his side against complacency in the next Bundesliga fixture at FC Koln. The tactician insisted that his side should not play down the fact that FC Koln is a great team and
is capable of beating any side in the league.
The Foals are the talk of the town after the sensational 5-0 win over Werder Bremen last week at home. The team has surely come a long way from last season when they played the relegation play-off to stay in the first division.
They are currently third on the standings table behind Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund with 26 points from the 13 games played.
Favre insisted that there is surely some pressure on the team to perform well as the fans expect the results after the brilliant start to the season. He claimed that many are rating his team as the favourites to win against Koln
but the manager admitted that it will not be an easy task. He added that it is an away game and the opposition has some great players in their ranks.
“For me, the euphoria is no greater than normal. Maybe many say we are favourites after we won 5-0 against Werder Bremen, but I don't see it that way. The team also knows that the game against Cologne will be a totally different
game and the mental approach is going to be very, very important,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The boss played down title talk and insisted that the season is too long to talk about the Bundesliga trophy at the moment. He added that it is still a league game and that the team’s main aim will be to end the season successfully.
“I know that this game means a lot to many people, but at the end of the day, it is just a league game and we just want to be successful, that is it,” he concluded.
Borussia Monchengladbach have won eight times this season in 13 games and their displays have been far more superior than the previous campaign considering they achieved 10 wins in all of last season.
