Monday Night RAW: Goldust vs. WWE Champion Sheamus - The fight after a year
It was only a year back when Sheamus was fighting in ECW and few people knew about him. Sheamus was trying to make a name for himself in the ring. That was the time when the current WWE Champion, Sheamus, went one-on-one with the veteran wrester and the former Intercontinental Champion, Goldust. That was a hard and brutal match and both wrestlers gave it their all to win the match. But in the end, it was Sheamus who reigned supreme and ended the match after kicking Goldust in his face.
It was ironic that both wrestlers faced off once again in the ring after a year for a rematch. But during the year, everything had changed and the little known Irish warrior had become a great WWE Champion; however, the veteran wrestler, Goldust, risked it all to face the dominant Sheamus in the ring. Goldust knew that a victory over Sheamus could revive his career and could bring him back in the mainstream wrestling matches. Sheamus knew that he needed to win the match at all costs to build some momentum for his match against Randy Orton at SummerSlam with the WWE title up for grabs.
It was a Non-Title match and the WWE Championship of Sheamus was not on the line. The match started as Goldust and Sheamus locked heads with each other. Sheamus overpowered Goldust and cornered him in the ring before slapping him in the face. The slap was a humiliation for the veteran wrestler, Goldust, and an indication that the word “respect” is not in the dictionary of Sheamus. Goldust got furious after the slap and started delivering punches to Sheamus’ face. Goldust then ran in the ring and delivered a close line to knock Sheamus down.
Just when Goldust was creating momentum in the match, Sheamus replied by delivering a knee-kick to Goldust’s face. Sheamus then joined his hands to create the maximum impact and delivered a huge close line on Goldust. Sheamus was full of anger and rage as he was not even expecting minimal resistance from Goldust. The crowd was on Goldust’s side as they never liked the arrogant behaviour of WWE’s Celtic Warrior. Sheamus then grabbed Goldust from his shoulders, picked him up in the air and banged his back on his knee. That was a big blow to Goldust as he struggled to survive in the match.
Sheamus then brought ultimate pain and punishment to Goldust as he ran in the ring and executed his wrestling finisher called the Brogue Kick. This massive kick involves Sheamus’ big right boot and his opponent’s jaw. Goldust was down and out after receiving this huge kick. However, surprisingly, Sheamus did not go for the cover and did not end the match at that moment. There was something more disturbing going on in the mind of Sheamus as he set himself to execute another wrestling finisher against Goldust.
Sheamus grabbed Goldust’s head between his legs and prepared for the dreaded wrestling finisher called the High Cross. During this finisher, Sheamus picks up his opponent on his shoulders and then slams his body on the ring floor. Sheamus did exactly the same with Goldust and then went for the cover. The referee counted to three with both shoulders of Goldust touching the ring floor.
Sheamus picked the microphone and started talking trash about Goldust. Sheamus then talked about the fact that no one respects and honours him like a true champion. And then he said that he does not need the respect of everyone and all he needs is the WWE Championship, which he already has. Sheamus told the world that he will do exactly the same with Randy Orton at the SummerSlam pay-per-view. Only time can tell if the Celtic Warrior has what it takes to take down “The Viper” Randy Orton.
